About Sarah Arias Napoles
(she/her)

Mission & Approach

I bring over 20 years of experience from working in mental and physical health settings in addition to previous work as a first responder.  I have worked with children, youth and adults.

In addition to psychology, which has given me a rich understanding of integrative support for my clients, my broad educational background also includes social work, child and youth care, and sociology. I believe in healing the whole body and am guided by the approaches of cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and often add in many healing aspects of both narrative therapy and somatic healing practices.

I believe in a trauma informed approach and in having a safe environment with a safe person for clients to start figuring out how to feel more in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviour. I believe that it is in relationship that healing takes place.

I support clients to establish and reach their goals with a client centred, collaborative, and culturally safe approach that recognizes that everyone comes to counselling with their own strengths, which can be tapped into to invite change.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief and loss, OCD, ADHD, parenting, and relationship struggles. I also work with supporting first responders and their families, which can include PTSD and suicide bereavement. I also supports LGBTQ2+ individuals and their families.

With gratitude, I recognize that my work is done on the traditional unceded territories of the Kwikwetlem, Musqueam, Squamish, Stó:lō and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.

When I am not working, I enjoy travel, sports and connecting with nature.
